The Philippines on Friday night received 100,000 doses of Sputnik V vaccines against COVID-19 from Russia.

According to dzBB reporter Luisito Santos, the vaccines landed at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport at 10:32 p.m.

This is the third batch of Sputnik V vaccines that have arrived in the country

The Philippines received its first batch of 15,000 doses on May 1, followed by another 15,000 on May 12.

On May 31, a total of 50,000 doses of Sputnik V arrived in the country.

According to Santos' tweet, officials from the Embassy of Russia and the Philippines were on hand to welcome the vaccines.

A photo also showed vaccine czar Carlito Galvez Jr. and Russian Ambassador to the Philippines Marat Pavlov welcomed the arrival of the vaccines.

The National Task Force against COVID-19 said the vaccines would be brought to the cold storage facility in Marikina City.

The Philippines has so far received 180,000 doses of the Sputnik V vaccine.

The Philippines is expecting to receive 11 million doses in the month of June.

Vaccine czar Carlito Galvez Jr. has repeatedly said that the country's supply of COVID-19 vaccines may stabilize in the following months.

At present, around 6 million Filipinos have been vaccinated against COVID-19. Of this number, 1,604,260 individuals have been fully vaccinated.

From the airport, the vaccines were loaded on trucks and delivered to a storage facility.
